Mission & Giving

(Scroll to the bottom of the page for online and other options for giving.)

Giving has and always will be an act of worship. We give, responding to what God has done in our lives.

“In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'”

Acts 20:35

General Giving
Each Sunday, a plate is passed for the regular offering that goes to support the facilities, the ministries and the regular work of the church. Our worship leadership, music programs, activities for kids, technology for live streaming,  newsletters and other communications, and the staff and volunteers who make it all happen are valuable parts of what makes our community vibrant and accessible. Thank you for your support!

Mission Partners and Activities
Every month we designate a local, regional or international mission focus. Each Sunday, a basket is passed (along with the plate for the regular offering, see above) with 100% of the basket offering going to the mission focus of the month. Additionally, we often collect items to support local ministries such as food for the CAP Agency food shelf, or gloves for a local elementary school. 2023 mission giving included: Southern Valley Alliance ($1,295 + donated cell phones), Emma Norton –Restoring Waters Campaign ($1,055.25), CAP  Food Shelf ($1,372 + many food items), United Methodist Committee on Relief-disaster recovery ($2,130), the Annual Conference Love Offering for programs assisting with mental health ($1,711.21), Reconciling Ministries Network ($1,028), CAP School Supplies Drive ($1,378 + many school supplies collected), Sleep in Heavenly Peace ($1,253 + new bedding collected,) Simpson Housing ($1,173), ROCK ($1,196 plus many granola bars and mac & cheese servings), Feed My Starving Children ($1,317 + a packing event), and Loaves and Fishes ($1,419). In 2024 our mission focus for January will be FISH Network, February will be Simpson Housing, and March will be the CAP Food Shelf.

Additional support for our mission partners come through donations of produce to the CAP Food Shelf from our Don Hartley Memorial Garden (supplemented by our home gardens,) and donations from small groups like our United Women in Faith group, which has contributed toward Emma Norton Services, FISH Network and many others, and our intergenerational events such as making tied-fringe fleece blankets for folks who are part of Emma Norton Services programs.

Strong Mission Trip to Costa Rica
Since 2018, we have helped organize groups to serve at Strong Missions in Costa Rica. We help local partners in Costa Rica build schools, improve playgrounds, help serve meals, provide VBS style programming for kids on school break, and expand other work already being done to help impoverished communities move forward. This is a hands-on effort, involving painting, building, digging, hauling, and much more while also learning from the communities we serve. Our next trip is scheduled for March 30-April 6, 2024! To find out more about how to support or participate in this trip, contact us.
