Join us to build beds for kids in our community who are without a bed. We will cut, sand, assemble and finish bed components. These builds are designed with everyone in mind. A few hours of your time will mean the world to a child sleeping in an unfavorable condition. Please sign up at the Registration Link. Note that the registration system defaults to the first session with available volunteer slots. Click in the “Additional Times” field to select the Saturday, Sept 14 8:30AM-10:45AM time slot, and plan to show up by 8:15.

On Thursday evening, all the lumber is cut to size. Friday afternoon, Friday evening and Saturday morning we have groups sanding wood, assembling headboards, footboards, side rails and slats, and finishing the components. At the end of each session we pack up the finished work for storage and do a little clean up. Minimum age to volunteer is 12. SHP provides all the tools and protective gear (masks, gloves, ear plugs and safety glasses) although you are welcome to bring your own.

It’s hard work and great fun! Enjoy a tremendous sense of accomplishment and fulfilment helping turn stacks of lumber into completed bed components.
