Jesus has been our constant companion throughout our lives. Through the birth of Jesus, God draws us back into loving relationship with God and the community of faith. We need to claim and act upon our calling to guide others to God.
Light is used throughout the scriptures as an image of hope and healing. Light, we know, can help us to notice those who are invisible to others. How can we “leave the light on” for those who feel lost in the darkness?
The challenge throughout the Bible is to “love your neighbor as yourself.” We can begin by looking intentionally for the strangers in our midst and reaching out to them with caring words and actions.
We know God’s love best through relationships. Our task during this Advent/Christmas season (and always, really) is to remember to look for and recognize the overlooked and lonely in the world.
