This our final week for online reflection, but there is one more coloring sheet and a written reflection that will be available for Easter, because Easter is truly the Last Word that keeps speaking. If you want to receive that final word and haven’t been receiving the emails, please contact me at kidsandfamilies@htumc.org and I will get those to you, and any of the past weeks you have missed but would like. Comments on this series will be closed next Wednesday, so chime in now, but the videos will stay up for the time being.
Thank you for the opportunity to share in this series with you. Scroll down to see this week’s discussion questions and the comment box below.

Discussion Questions:
When things around you are hard, or sad, what helps you through?
–Remembering that I am not alone – God is walking with me through the pain, never letting go of my hand. And also, through life experiences knowing that sad days will pass in time, and joy will return. Perseverance and trust.
What words give you strength, or hope, or peace?
–I agree with your answer on the video – Beloved. Definition: a noun meaning a much-loved person.
Going Deeper
Can you tell a story of a time you’ve experienced someone pushing back against violence, fear, or heartbreak?
–Just last evening my friend, a pastor in Tennessee organized a candlelight vigil in her town just outside of Nashville to bring the community together in solidarity against the tragic shooting there, and to allow those attending to give and receive comfort. Pastors from many of the local faiths took turns speaking.
How might Jesus’ words from the cross–difficult as they are–also give us hope?
–Jesus never faltered in his love for his Heavenly Father. Even in death Jesus fully trusted God and continued to seek God’s will. He showed us that there is more to love than saving our own life. Jesus showed the world perfect love by his choice of the word commend – to give willingly.
Why do you think Jesus keeps going back to the Psalms–keeps using words that aren’t his own–from the cross? Or, why does his community remember and tell the story this way?
The Psalms tell us stories and reveal the truth of humanity – our struggles and how we overcome them by turning to God and trusting him.
